Vista and Wines self-guided Cycling Holiday
On this 8-day self-guided cycling holiday, you will cycle from the mountainous interior through red wine countryside to the sparkling Adriatic Sea. The tour starts at the fabulous Lake Bled, famed for its fairytale island church. As you peddle your way westward, the pre-planned route takes you through the heart of Triglav National Park to Slovenia's largest permanent lake; Lake Bohinj. This amazing place sits quietly amid some of the tallest peaks of the Julian Alps.
From Bohinj you'll head through the verdant valley that was carved millions of years ago by the power of the Soca River. Here you will be transferred by car to Kolovrat Saddle and ride the ridge overlooking the incredible Soca Valley before heading down into the Karst region and the best red wine in the country. The Karst is a massive limestone plateau whose rich red soil is perfect for growing the Refosk grape, which ultimately becomes the intensely ruby red Refosk wine.
On the 7th day, you'll arrive at the beautiful sunny Adriatic Coast, where you can visit the lovely seaside harbour towns and their fascinating Venetian architecture.
Cycling tour highlights:
• Cycle through the mountain valleys of the Julian Alps.
• Swim in the clear, cool alpine lakes of Bled & Bohinj.
• Trace your way along the emerald-coloured Soča River
• Savour the sumptuous Refosk wine in a world of limestone.
• Soak your tired legs in the healing waters of the Adriatic.
